Russ Kennedy – Bass and Tuba
At the age of 15, Russ started to learn the tuba, and two years later started playing professionally as a member of the Royal Artillery Mounted Band.
He soon realised that going oompah oompah a lot wasn’t really what he wanted to do, and he switched to the bass guitar. Russ joined Beyond the Barricade in1999, and his background playing everything from classical, funk, soul, and rock comes in very handy for the range of music he is required to play in the show. Russ still enjoys playing tuba in several competition brass bands.
